Philadelphians in a frenzy

Posted on 2008.11.01 at 01:05
Philadelphians saw redemption Wednesday night after the Phillies won its second World Series since 1980. The worst team in Major League Baseball, which has been around for over 100 years, beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3.

So, today, everyone had an excuse to get piss drunk at the middle of the street, and in broad daylight; wear all red; holler at bystanders, passersby, or at a bus driving by; curse profusely out of glee; and, get off early at work simply because there's a parade going on.

Everyone, was so kuuuuhraazzy. A wasted guy vomited in front of the office this morning. People and mascots were all over the streets. Shards of beer bottles littered the city. But best of all, the subway turned into an underground community of sorts. It was terribly jam-packed and it had been a hellish ride that have caused me slight claustrophobia. Everything was amazingly out of the mundane.

Well, it has been a great year for Phillies fans. But we'll see how it goes next year.

Imma see them cowboys!

I'm off to Texas in two weeks. It's really not the best destination to break out of the eastern callousness, but I guess a new scenery is good enough to rejuvenate and detach from the annoying hubbub of the city.

First stop is Austin and San Antonio, and the rest of the one-week trip would be in Lubbock. Apparently, there is such a place where majority of the area's color is brown. Imagine that. The place didn't exist in my little world until early last year when that little world made a major shift. I won't go into details.

Anyhow, I hope it turns out great; not that I'm expecting some soul-searching realizations to happen. I'm just after that feeling of wanting to move in at instant the plane touches down, though I think that would be highly improbable and absolutely short-lived.

Well, there's something to look forward to in the next few days. Sana lang talaga di masayang pamasahe ko.
